Endomet Selenium is an extremely important mineral in the human body. Some of it’s roles include:
Thyroid function – Selenium is essential for proper thyroid functioning. It helps produce thyroid hormone (T4), aids in the conversion of T4 to the more active form T3, and helps reverse the autoimmune hashimotos disease.
Detoxification – Glutathione, known as the “master detoxifier”, requires selenium to be produced. This compound promotes detoxification in every cell of the body, but especially in the liver. Selenium can also bond with toxic metals such as mercury in the body to form less-toxic compounds, which are easily excreted.

The soil availability of selenium has worsen everywhere on the planet due to several reasons. Acid rain has increased the levels of nitrogen and sulfur in the atmosphere, which changes the pH of the soils. This makes it more difficult for selenium to bind to planet roots and be taken up into food. Also, heavy metals in rain quickly bind to selenium and form insoluble compounds, further reducing the amount of selenium in the food chain. In America, for example, the soil in the Midwest, derived from ancient sea beds, contain up to 50 ppm, 1000 times the amount contained in the northwest, northeast, and Florida, where levels are below than 0.05 ppm.
As a result, most food is very low in selenium. Certain foods, however, contain some well-used selenium. These include onions, blue corn chips, sardines, ginger, garlic, almond butter, nutritional yeast, raw dairy products, and arrowroot powder. Other sources such as Brazil nuts and seafood are either slightly toxic or do not contain well-utilized forms of selenium.
Endomet selenium is in food-based form; the food-based form of selenium is known the best form utilized by the body. Here, peas, lentils, and other fast growing sprouts are grown on selenium-rich soil. The plant is then harvested and freeze-dried, which concentrates the nutrition, and put into a capsule. Other forms such as yeast-based, mushroom-based, and selenium selenite tend not to be well-absorbed or are somewhat toxic.
