The act of breaking down food into it’s basic components to be used as building blocks for all bodily tissues, also know as digestion, is one of the most important functions in the body. Digestion is very weak today, and perhaps this is a reason why people are putting more attention on it. This is due to issues like nutrient deficiencies, toxic metals, fatigue, improper eating habits, overuse of sympathetic nervous system, among others. As a result, strengthening digestion is a primary goal of all development programs, and is a long term process going far beyond the relief one may feel from probiotics, for example. The sense of lightness in the gut from a well-working digestive system is something that yields rippling effects in focus, emotional health, and athletic performance.
Developing good eating habits – These including eating sit-down meals rather than “on-the-run”, relaxing (especially at meal time), chewing food thoroughly, and not drinking liquids with meals.
Diet – The diet used consists of mainly cooked vegetables, along with some animal protein (see Foods for daily use for details.) Just as important is the avoidance of several foods that impair digestion such as sugar, various juices, wheat, and alcohol.
Detoxification – Excessive metals such as mercury and cadmium interfere with digestive enzyme production, and encourage the growth of pathogens in the gut. Development science uses various procedures to aid in detoxifying the body.
Remineralization – Missing minerals are gradually replaced, which assist in various aspects of the digestive process. An example is zinc, which is needed for production of digestive enzymes, rebuilding the intestinal wall, balancing the nervous system to encourage digestion, and the fighting off of various infectious organisms.
Removal of pathogens such as parasites and yeasts – These organisms upset or kill off beneficial gut flora which help us break down food. Most people have them to some degree, and so they are dealt with in development science using various non-toxic methods.
Digestive Aid – Endomet GB-3 is a powerful digestive aid given to all people on a development program. This is because even with the methods mentioned, people still require additional support. GB-3 has a multitude of other effects as well, including reduction of excess copper, relief of constipation, helping people relax by reducing the “fight or flight” system, improving liver function, and cleaning of pathogens from the gut.
